Salah Albuheissi is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Bristol Urological Institute, Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust and at Bristol Urology Associates. He sees patient with general urology and andrology problems. He has a sub-specialist interest in open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery for kidney and the retroperitoneum (testis cancer & sarcoma).

Kidney and Retroperitoneal Surgery

Salah takes a patient centred approach, and offers the most appropriate treatment tailored towards an individuals preferences. He regular performs open, laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques, and is currently one of the highest volume surgeons in the South West region of the United Kingdom.  He regularly manages complex renal cancers adapting his approach for each patient's particular circumstances. He excels in nephron-sparing surgery (partial nephrectomy) and is currently one of the few surgeons in the UK performing minimally invasive surgery for post-chemotherapy Retro Peritoneal Lymph Node Dissection.

General Urology and Andrology

Salah manages managing a variety of other urological conditions and has a special interest in andrology. He performs corrective surgery for penile curvature (Peyronie's disease) and penile implants for erectile dysfunction.

Training

Salah Albuheissi completed basic surgical training in London and then carried out a research project at the Institute of Cancer Research, one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes. For his work on environmental and molecular carcinogenesis of the prostate he was awarded a MD degree (Doctor of Medicine) from the University of London.

He undertook speciality training in urology in the Severn and Peninsula Deanery Higher Surgical Training Programme. Following the completion of the training programme he undertook a 12 month fellowship and developed a sub-specialist interest in the management of renal and testicular cancer, retroperitoneal sarcomas and in andrology (men's health). He has consolidated his training through clinical visits to the Cleveland Clinic in the USA and Innsbruck in Austria to learn and develop new techniques in Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery.

He is the Lead Clinician for Urology at Southmead Hospital, the largest Urological Cancer surgery centre in the UK, with an equally good Andrology service.

His main research interest are uro-oncology & andrology.
